Project:

A distribution company with a national network of depots requested our involvement on the issue of the control and costs of their vehicle fleet. They required a better accountability at branch level for the vehicles being used.


What we did:

Although this was a company wide issue we concentrated our review to the largest distribution depot and completed a fully detailed review of the vehicles on site, utilisations, routes and detailed costs per vehicle. Once complete and analysed we had detailed discussions with suppliers, customers both internal and external and the vehicle suppliers.


What they got:

We developed a suite of management reports and procedures for vehicle requests and the monthly running costs applicable to the fleet. Routes were reorganised to ensure full utilisation and customer service improved. Control systems were installed that generated the total fleet costs per week for monitoring against budget. The vehicle suppliers also reduced the costs on short term hirers.
